Running nearly six hours late, the Portland section of the Empire Builder passes some BNSF ballast cars at Lyle. The snow on the nose has likely been aboard since Montana.

The eastbound Empire Builder enters Stevenson on BNSF's Fallbridge Subdivision. A project is underway to replace the bridge at the mouth of Rock Creek.
