The classic New York Central Hudson River vista at Breakneck Ridge is recreated with Amtrak train 289, a NYC to Syracuse Friday only train (ran to just Schenectady Mo-Th as train 259). This train ran non stop from NYC to Albany as did its Mo-Th counterpart. This Rohr turbo, one of 7 five car sets originally acquired for Empire Service in 1976, was rebuilt by M-K in Hornell in 1995 as a demonstration project. It was also the last turbo to operate in regular scheduled service. Today it sits in Scotia NY at Super Steel as part of the failed rebuild project that NYS spent millions on. Note the intermediate signals have been removed in favor of cab signals.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
