A Pullman Standard Comet Cab Car leads a Boonton Line train east. This car was built in 1973 as part of NJDOT's second order for push-pull equipment. These brushed white aluminum cars were the backbone of Erie Lackawanna's and then Conrail's diesel hauled fleet in the 70s. They were incredibly comfortable, with 2/2 reversible seating, lots of leg room, and the occasional bar car. As a railfan, I didn't like them, but as a commuter, I adored these cars, putting in thousands of miles aboard them.
This gallery contains photos of equipment and properties that became, were and used to be part of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad. This gallery also contains photos of equipment paying tribute to the EL or its predecessors.
