Remarks & Notes |
The fastest steam locomotive of all time 4468 Mallard. In 1938, this loco achieved a speed of 126 mph, a record which has never been matched. It is seen here being guided into Carnforth whilst working a main line special in 1988. This beautiful engine was restored for main line use for a short time and operated a few specials. It is now on static display at the National Railway Museum. |
