Remarks & Notes |
In the early 1900s, Maine's 2-foot railroads were a vital link between rural communities. Mixed trains were commonplace as railways with limited resources attemped to satisfy customer demands for freight and passenger service as efficiently as possible. In this photo, a typical Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington mixed train whistles its approach to Sutter's Crossing as it runs southbound to Sheepscot. |
