SP Track One over Donner Pass, the original Central Pacific route, dramaticaly showed what the CP was up against when it built over Donner in 1866 with hand tools and black powder. But being on a steep north face it was always a photographic challenge. And during its last days it saw few trains because SP traffic was down, and dispatchers favored the easier grade and better clearances of Track 2 through Tunnel 41. This section of Track 1 is now abandoned and the Donner route single tracked through Tunnel 41. Due to the deep shadows this has been an interesting Photoshop project, and my apologies if I didn't get it quite right.....suggestions welcome.
