Remarks & Notes |
It's a steam locomotive. Wait! It's a diesel locomotive. Wait! It's a....Stiesel? This is former Sumpter & Choctaw 2-8-2 No. 102, converted to internal combustion many years ago by the good (if not slightly misguided) folks at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The "Tender" hides a diesel locomotive - take a look at the trucks! The original tender is safely stored away, so 102 can someday be returned to its original configuration for display. This locomotive (unit?) sees service on the museum's loop of track during the summer months. In the 1990s it had an authentic paint job; the current red paint is a new and historically inaccurate addition. |
