Amtrak Coast Starlight #11 makes a station stop at Albany, Oregon. One of the more famous (in Oregon) "old heads" of the former Southern Pacific, Bob Melbo, looks on as Terry Teeter loads baggage into the baggage car. Also note the two Cal. Zephyr dome cars at the rear of the train. There were five private cars returning to California on #11 after SP 4449 pulled them to Portland, Oregon on the previous day.
Running daily between Seattle and Los Angeles, this train offers running alongside the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains. It has been one of Amtrak's long-distance success stories.
