Remarks & Notes |
DPR #1 leads an empty coal train out of the Deseret Power plant near Bonanza, Utah. The train is approaching MP 34. The plant’s coal handling equipment is visible in the background. This location is about as close as you can get to the plant without trespassing. The Deseret Railway is an isolated 34 mile long coal hauler in remote eastern Utah and western Colorado. It generally runs trains 5 days a week with Saturday and Sunday as days off. The road uses GE E60 electrics exclusively. Elevation here is around 5400’ above sea level. |
