Mountain muscle in the limelight. The former Meadow River Lumber Company Heisler #6, now in the stable of the Cass Scenic Railroad, is posed for photographers on the bridge over Leatherbark Creek. Lighting this scene was challenging enough, but making it accessible to 200+ photographers and doing it safely was a really daunting challenge. The Cass Scenic Railroad and the Mountain State Railroad and Logging Historical Society made it all happen on the first evening of their annual Railfan Weekend. Special thanks are due to Jerry Beck from the Cass Scenic Railroad, who rigged and set the lights for this pretty scene.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
For aficianados of geared steam engines, it's "almost heaven." Here are some scenes from the park's annual Railfan Weekends, as well as some private charters.
