Remarks & Notes |
Soo 554 has just delivered a transfer to CP and ACR in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. and is now back in Michigan after having crossed the International Bridge in the background. CP train #911 must be running late this evening and no doubt CP yard power will be delivering the containers and freight off of it later in the night. The bridge over the west approach to the Soo Locks in the background is already on it's way back up to clear the heavy lake traffic in this area. Due to weight restrictions on certain parts of the bridge the Soo used first switch engines and later Geeps on the transfers, while CP stuck to switchers of EMD and MLW/Alco variety. After the WC bought the Soo trackage they used the Ex Milw. SDL39's on the bridge until they took on the project to strengthen the bridge in the 90's. |
