Remarks & Notes |
With nothing happening on CP I decided to take a ride west out to one of my favorite spots on CSX’s Mohawk Division. As I made my way west I could see tank cars ahead passing through CP-169 the point at which NYS Route 5 begins to parallel CSX west of Schenectady. Cool an Ethanol train! Hoping for the possibility of an opportunity to shoot some more ICE or DME power I soon discovered as I got closer to the head end that it only had CSX GE’s on it. Oh well no problem. I was able to get plenty of distance between me and this train only to have it catch up to me on the west side of Amsterdam. I was able to again get ahead but figured that this train would beat me through Fonda as I had to slow down for the Village’s 30 MPH speed limited. I figured that if I beat the train through Fonda I would only end up having it pass by me as I made a mad dash for the tracks after parking missing any photographic opportunity. To my surprise as I got up to the tracks he was not in site. I set up and after a fifteen minute wait he appeared. You can also see Q393 with a BNSF H1 leader sitting on the now reactivated Controlled Siding that run’s from CP-184 above Fonda Village to CP-188 in the background which from late 2008 to earlier this year was totally blocked with Autoracks and Coil Steel cars idled by the Recession. |
