Remarks & Notes |
Deseret Ry’s E60 6000 hp electric #DPR-1 leads 2 more E60’s and a 44 car empty coal train through the colorful badlands of eastern Utah’s Coyote Basin. The colorful rocks exposed here are Tertiary age lakebeds laid down in ancient Lake Uintah. The train is eastbound and will cross into Colorado in 2 or 3 miles. Final destination is the coal loadout in Colorado serving the Deserado mine. When loaded, this train weighs in at 7200 tons and normally rates 3 of these 1983 built E60’s. Maximum speed is 40 mph. |
