Rare Visitor Thanks to a headsup on one of my Yahoo Groups, I learned that a very rare visitor was coming to my area of the BNSF Transcon. This past week, the American Association of Private Railcar Owners (AAPRCO) Convention was held in Pueblo, CO. Last Friday (Sept. 17) A special of 4 Amtrak units and 20 Heavyweight Passenger cars departed Albuquerque, NM headed north over Raton Pass to Pueblo. When the Convention wrapped up this past Wednesday, the Special made a loop of sorts Heading from Pueblo to La Junta, then heading south on the BNSF Boise City Sub to Amarillo. They spent the night in Amarillo and departed just after 8 yesterday morning. I was out to catch the special seen here passing Amarillo Steel Works headed west to Clovis, NM and then it would go on to Albuquerque. Passenger trains on this leg of the transcon are rare enough, but to have a train of 4 Amtrak P42's and 19 Private Coaches was something else.
