Remarks & Notes |
Britains newest locomotive Tornado heads towards Berwick with a special to Edinburgh. The late afternoon sun catches the Holy Island of Lindisfarne which was the birthplace of St Cuthbert whose remains can be found in Durham Cathedral and for whom the cathedral was built. In AD 679 the Venerable Bede wrote the History of England here and from here in AD 634 monks went throughout England spreading the Christian message to what was a basically heathen country. |
