Well known for his decades of involvement in steam preservation, restorer and master pattern maker Bernie Perch muscles one of his reproduction steam whistles upright, to demonstrate the scale of these things. The whistle in this picture was created for CNJ 113 in Minersville, PA. For Project 113, Bernie made special patterns and core boxes in his shop from measurements from a CNJ original. Also worth noting is the terrific work by the fine folks at Active Brass Foundry in Perkasie, PA. And a special thank you to Bernie for agreeing to sit for this photo.
