Almost home. After battling snow squalls and fog up in the high country, the C&TS daily westbound train has descended below the overcast and into slightly warmer air. Venerable K-36 #484 is seen here with a 12-car consist, drifting through the famous S-Curve at MP 337, about 7 miles from her home base in Chama, NM. For the past couple of years, the C&TS Locomotives have carried the flying "Rio Grande" logos on their tenders in recognition of their heritage on these rails. For 2011 however, the C&TS has indicated that for brand marketing purposes, all of the tenders will be repainted with the words "Cumbres & Toltec", although still in the same "flying" font style.
