We were in Lawrenceville, VA on March 26, 1977. Spring had started to arrive in Southside Virginia and NF&D's freight train from Danville had arrived, yarded its train, and was putting the engines away. If I recall correctly, it was a Saturday and the crew had probably made the 112 mile run as quickly as possible. RS-36 No. 2 was one of the original A&D locomotives, while RS-11 No. 204 was ex-NKP and came from parent N&W.
i was born in virginia in 1972. when i think of railroads that shaped the commonwealth. i think of railroads like, SCL, N&W and southern. this is a tribute to those wonderful days gone by and for those who remember it well.
