Entering the stretch of line in the median of San Jose Avenue, an outbound J Church train accelerates away from the San Jose & Randall stop as the distant San Francisco skyline glows in the last minutes of the blue hour. This stretch of the J line passes through Bernal Cut, which was how the original San Francisco & San Jose RR (eventually part of Southern Pacific) mainline passed through the San Francisco hills on its route southward.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
