Smoky old yard goat last spotted wandering through fields of gold! In reality, it's just an old Rio Grande SW1200, towing a long train of box cars and petroleum tankers along the former D&RGW Ogden Main at Woods Cross, Utah. In 1985, the high iron of Subdivision 7 became a five mile spur that dead ended at the Phillips 66 refinery. SP Management thought nothing of sending a light duty yard goat from the Fourth South yard in downtown Salt Lake City to the oil refineries 10 miles to the north. D&RGW 135 is dragging it's inbound train at milepost 753, which is measured from Denver, Colorado via Pueblo and Tennessee Pass. This image was scanned from a 35mm Fujichrome Velvia transparency.
