Southbound RF&P No. 105 was passing through Elmont, VA on April 13, 1977, the first day of an experimental pool power arrangement with Conrail. If I recall correctly, RF&P tried it in order to get Conrail trains, being held for lack of power, out of Potomac Yard. It was a failure. RF&P could be like an "old maid" when it came to its locomotives. They took care of them and they expected anyone that had them to do the same. The condition in which they were returned, often days after expected, was not satisfactory. The experiment was relatively short lived.
