Remarks & Notes |
The SNCF class CC 14000 locomotives have been built between 1955 and 1959 by CGC/Oerlikon for the electrification of the French North-East corridor between Valenciennes and Thionville. These heavy locomotives (123 tons) were devoted to the haulage of heavy freight trains. Like the other SNCF classes BB 12000, BB 13000 and CC 14100 they were nicknamed "flat irons" or "crocodile". The CC 14018 started its active life in february 1957 at Mohon and has been withdrawn from service at the end of december 1981. Since 2005 the locomotive is preserved at the "Cité du Train" in Mulhouse.
