Old Eastie draws down. It's the fall of 1953 and with the war years behind it, the East Broad Top Railroad is feeling the economic pressure of its dwindling business. The infrastructure shows the lack of attention in this scene as Mikado #15 moves her train through the deserted yard to begin her southbound run to Woodvale. In the distance, two other Mikes await assignment, one cold and one hot. In less than a year, scheduled passenger services would end and the line would run only intermittently. In 1956, Old Eastie ceased operations as a common carrier. This re-creation courtesy of The East Broad Top Railroad and Lerro Productions.
A look at the one-time coal-hauler, which ran as a tourist railroad for decades and finally ceased operations in 2011. The album includes photos from an October 2010 charter as well as images from the very last Fall Spectacular in October of 2011.
