Spokane Portland & Seattle 4-8-4 701 was one of three Class E-1 4-8-4s built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in May, 1938. They were virtually identical to the Northern Pacific Class A-3 except that they were oil burners. They had 77" drivers, 28 x 31 inch cylinders, boiler pressure of 260 lbs, and could exert 69,756 lbs of tractive effort. SP&S 700 was preserved and is operational today; the other two locomotives were scrapped circa 1960. This image from my collection was taken at an unknown location.
