Sunny East Broad Top: Southbound from the Grove. The cool, moist air on a chilly October morning produces a billowing white plume as EBT 15 charges south toward McMullins Summit with the first passenger train of the day. In recent years, the brush has grown up along the line to Colgate Grove, making a clean shot of the train a real challenge. After considerable scouting, I concluded that if I were looking for a well-lit, classic shot of EBT steam operations, this was the best spot on the line from which to get it.
A look at the one-time coal-hauler, which ran as a tourist railroad for decades and finally ceased operations in 2011. The album includes photos from an October 2010 charter as well as images from the very last Fall Spectacular in October of 2011.
