Remarks & Notes
Following a significant, overnight snowfall the last week of December, the UP’s westbound “Cities” were running many hours late. Having seen one pass our house around mid-morning, I positioned myself a mile west of town and was soon rewarded with this scene – probably the combined City of Los Angeles/San Francisco/Challenger. A few years later, 957 would find new homes at both Amtrak and Alaska Railroad, and lives on today as the beautifully-restored Wisconsin & Southern 103.
