Remarks & Notes |
Desert High Stepper. Nevada Northern's high-drivered 10-wheeler #40 gallops southbound through Robinson Canyon with her "Steptoe Flyer" consist on the way to the Ruth. Although the NN Keystone Branch clearly offers the best scenery on the railroad for photography...at least in my opinion...a passenger train on this line is not particularly authentic. The locomotive and consist you see here would have been primarily used on the NN Main Line north from Ely to Cobre, where the railroad ran two passenger/mail trains each day between 1906 and 1941. The Keystone Branch depicted here existed to serve the mines district and the traffic on it would have consisted almost exclusively of ore trains. |
