A westbound B&O manifest was passing the signal at Okonoko, WV on May 19, 1984 with C&O SD50 No. 8558. Okonoko is the west end of the Magnolia Cut Off. At one point it went from four tracks to three. A the time of the photograph, it went from two to three. The third track west of Okonoko has since been removed and now there are two. B&O experimented for a while with one SD50 on some manifests and some coal and empty hopper trains. I referred to them as "one unit wonders." Always struggling along well below track speed, the experiment was short lived.
