A rare occurrence where an over and under of two trains was possible on the Montana Rail Link happened for a relatively short period of time in 2009. The track that SD40-2XR no. 263 is on was rebuilt on former Milwaukee Road right-of-way in Bonner, Montana. The MRL rebuilt this short section to access an area near the Milltown Dam sight. Over the years, sediment containing some nasty chemicals from mines upriver congregated at the dam. When the dam was taken out, MRL was called upon to haul out the dirty dirt to a location near Opportunity, Montana. Shortly after this was taken, the last train ran out of the dam sight, and the track was removed once more ending the possibility to get an over-under on the MRL
