Late in the day, SP 9354 West takes the original, outside track at Yuba Gap on the Donner Pass line. The newer, second main track, which tunnels through granite here, was built in the early 20th century. The outside track was later removed by SP in the early 1990s, and the railroad is now single-track on this portion of the line.
