Southbound at Goodspeed. Arriving from Middletown and points north, a New Haven local pulls into the yard at Goodspeed Station, in East Haddam, CT. Although the tracks on what is now the Valley Railroad still do go all the way to Middletown, CT, they are only usable for about 200 yards north of where the train is in this photo. Goodspeed Station, which is now owned by a private business, is essentially the north end of their line. Although the regular steam excursions never venture this far north, this is the destination for the line's diesel-powered, Essex Clipper Dinner Trains. After running around her special photo freight, NH 3025 made a few run-bys at this location for the patrons of the Lerro Productions Charter, providing opportunities to photograph the train with the freight house and yard office buildings. I especially liked this angle. For a number of reasons, this spot just reminds me of the EBT.
