Only 3 miles out of Cadiz, ATSF 3751 sets off with the Grand Canyon Limited into a desert sunset at a blistering 15 MPH. It would be a long night for the train crew and their passengers on the slow road to Parker, AZ. Turns out, it would also be a long night for the railfans chasing, especially those that took the "dirt road of doom" to follow the railroad and got stuck in the sandy soil. As for me, I took the paved roads to Parker via Needles, arriving two hours before the train, and feeling much refreshed the next morning knowing my car did not get stuck.
