Amtrak No. 49, the Lake Shore Limited, raises a powdery snow trail as it cruises through New Carlisle, Indiana, at 1:57 p.m. on the afternoon of February 25, 1990. The Conrail B23-7 was added to the road power of three Amtrak F40PHs, most likely because of a locomotive failure enroute west. So for now, No. 2020 gets to “stretch her legs” hauling people, instead of the usual intermodal.
