Passing in front of the famous Southern Pacific Building at #1 Market Street, MUNI car 1078 curves from Market onto Steuart Street approaching the San Francisco Railway Museum. This PCC streetcar, built by the St. Louis Car Co. in 1946, is painted to honor the San Diego Electric Railway, which operated PCC streetcars from 1937 to 1949. Note the slogans 'Ride and Relax' and 'Visit • Zoo Balboa Park San Diego.' The 1078 is a beautiful car, and a wonderful addition to MUNI's current roster of 30 PCCs.
