Several of SQM's 85-year-old GE boxcabs are still in daily service hauling nitrates to the port town of Tocopilla. Here, 604 ("Viviana") and 607 ("Alejandra") quietly round a horseshoe curve with empty cars under moonlit coastal fog. The train is approaching Barriles, where diesels will take over for the run to the mine at Maria Elena.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
