Westbound CSX Q349 is exiting Stuart Tunnel at Magnolia, WV on Oct. 23, 1993 with two SD60s. The Cut Off is no match for places like Sand Patch when it comes to fall color, with the trees at trackside (and river level) usually leaving much to be desired. Up on the ridges, it can be a different story. The huge number of oaks can produce some beautiful color, especially late in the season. I always managed a late autumn camping trip to the Cut Off. It always be a wonderful place to spend a crisp evening by the campfire.
