It was not uncommon for Susquehanna to host railfan excursions in the years following their 1986 restoration of service on the original NYS&W main between Butler and Sparta, NJ. This was a time before liability insurance premiums took their toll on such endeavors. One of these excursions is pictured during a photo run-by at the historic site of Susquehanna's compact Beaver Lake Yard (now just a wide spot in the woods). This particular excursion was called the "Mountaineer Limited" and was sponsored by the NYO&W Historical Society (hence the O&W flags flying on 1804). Aside from the pair of GP18s in the lead, it is worth noting that there are two dome cars visible in the consist. While the NYS&W main still sees regular service in 2013, the GP18s are now off the property and public excursions on the Susy-Q are now only fond memories.
