As seen from inside a long-abandoned gas station along the old Lincoln Highway (later, U.S. Highway 30) at James Town (west of Green River), Wyoming, a Union Pacific stack train descends Peru Hill on the morning of January 20, 2013. I have photographed this scene before, but thought that the addition of snow gave the place a new dimension, further defining the train and the skeletons of the old gas pumps out front, with the dry landscape now covered with bright blues and white. A EMD SD70ACe leads three new GEs on the point, and a single mid-train DPU can be seen one trailer from the right edge of the center window, on this long intermodal train.
