During the Second World War, the U. S. government had Pullman construct a large fleet of troop sleepers. After the war, surplus cars were purchased by several railroads and converted to various uses. The D&RGW acquired 20 cars in 1948 and utilized them in work train service. Car AX-2402 has been designated a 'Foreman Sleeper' car, parked on a side track along the Tintic Branch in Springville.
