Few of todays' railfans know the amazing fact that from the 1900 to 1960, the mighty Southern Pacific ran a 3 foot narrow gauge railroad in the Owens Valley of California. Stock Car 163, built between 1880 and 1900 is a rare survivor of that road. Travel Town Museum, started in the 1950's, was founded to keep surviving relics of train transpiration for the children of Los Angles. The museum's mission has matured over the years and although much needs to be done, it is in very good condition compared to the sad state it was in the 1970's. I highly recommend fans to go and enjoy the gems they will find.
