Remarks & Notes |
Most photos of the Conrail heritage unit are taken on lines operated by Norfolk Southern, and in some cases these are former Conrail routes. In this case it seemed appropriate to catch this unit leading a train on on a current-day Conrail mainline, specifically the Conrail Shared Assets Operation Lehigh Line. NS heritage units do not often visit New Jersey, so local railfans were out in force to catch this westbound on a clear spring afternoon. If you look carefully you might spot a former Lehigh Valley telegraph pole in the trees to the right of 8098. Most of these relics were removed by Conrail in the 1980s. |
