Amtrak Across the Keddie Wye! Due to a derailment along UP's Shasta Route (just north of Dunsmuir), Amtrak's northbound Coast Starlight was forced to detour via the Feather River Canyon and BNSF Gateway Subdivision. Here the train is seen making a "left turn" at the Keddie wye which will transfer it onto the BNSF Highline. A new Amtrak crew along with a BNSF pilot met the train here and took it north to Klamath Falls. It sure was an awesome moment watching this train cross this world famous bridge.
Running daily between Seattle and Los Angeles, this train offers running alongside the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains. It has been one of Amtrak's long-distance success stories.
