Just another day in Paradise. Engineer Ross eases his 8-car, 4 o'clock excursion train out of the yard at Lehman Place Junction en route back to East Strasburg. For many years, the turning point for Strasburg excursions has been a very difficult place to photograph, as the sunlight during normal operating hours has been blocked by large stands of trees. Recently however, the railroad has done a lot of tree and brush clearing as part of a project to establish a new picnic grove at the end of their line. The new grove, which is beyond the wooden fence behind the locomotive, will allow patrons to not only observe the comings and goings of the line's steam trains, but will also afford an excellent view-point for the high-speed Amtrak Passenger Trains that fly past Lehman Place frequently during the day. The new picnic area is expected to open sometime during the summer of 2013. Oh by the way, the trains will continue to stop at Groff's Grove on the westbound run to East Strasburg.
