The Death March. California Northern is being transferred down to the CFNR shops in American Canyon where it will be stripped of all personality and soul. Do to the G&W takeover of RailAmerica, California Northern is being forced to repaint their GP15s, which sport the appealing "green and cream" look, to the bright orange G&W seems to love. Along with a new paint job, this unit will also receive a new number to go along with G&W's roster sequence (something in the 5,000s). This was the final run of CFNR 112. Here you see it making rare trackage miles along the UP Martinez Subdivision in Davis, California. The vintage searchlights show this unit will transfer to track 2, to allow the Amtrak California Zephyr to enter Davis on the #1 (preferred) track. Anyways, adios CFNR 112. You will be missed.
