At the WW&F Railway Museum, the "old ways" of doing things are always preferred. Here, volunteers JB Smith, Dana Deering, and Stewart Rhine, work as a team to bore a 3/4" hole using a manual Armstrong rail drill. It will take 5-7 minutes to drill through this section of 60 lb steel rail, however time is of little concern here. The point is to experience something rarely seen by the general public. So next time someone asks you how many volunteers does it take to drill a hole in a length of rail, you can tell them...three! The museum's Fall Work Weekend is coming right up, October 11th thru 14th, 2013. www.wwfry.org
A tribute of appreciation to the workers who maintain the track, keeping our railways in shape regardless of weather and danger, and keeping them running effeciently.
