After switching the tank car facility at Logan, Montana Rail Link’s 844 local, powered by GP35 No. 403, returns to the Fifth Subdivision main line. The rest of the local’s train rests on the main, and will soon be traveling west to Three Forks and Sappington for more switching. An obvious grade on this connection was necessary to provide service to the plant that was constructed on an abandoned Milwaukee Road branch. This branch, which went from Three Forks to Bozeman, crossed the Northern Pacific (now MRL) main line on an overpass at this location.
