Four SD40-2XRs and two GP9s lead a combined Night and Day Gas locals on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013. The night before, the Night Gas died on the law at Paradise on its way east to Missoula and so a few hours later, the Day Gas headed west with an SD40-2XR. At Paradise, the crew picked up the other three SD40-2XRs and continued to Thompson Falls. After picking the Day Gas train, it returned to Paradise and combined gas trains (and the GP9s with the Paradise local tonnage) and returned to Missoula. The combined train provided visiting railfans with a rare show on MRL's 4th Subdivision.
