The stone base on the left side of this photo once housed a water tank, which was used by the Reading Company. Gordon was an important location on the Reading. Many steam locomotives were based out of Gordon in its heyday. Gordon was a base for helper locomotives that were used to assist trains on the steep Locust Summit and Buck Mountain grades.
