It's the end of an evening on the Naugatuck Railroad. Hundreds of passengers have enjoyed today's three train rides with Santa Claus and his elves, and now it's time to put the train away. U23B #2203 is the power today and FL9 #2019 is on the rear of the train for the long reverse move south. The engineer is in the shoving locomotive, guided by radio by the brakeman or conductor in 2019. On this deadhead move, that falls to the latter, still dressed up from punching tickets. Hand on the horn for an approaching crossing, he radios back to the engineer. "2203, clear eight cars south, crossing in six, protection activated."
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
