Outbound from Manhattan, a evening rush consist of St. Louis Car Company R-42 cars built in 1969-70, is seen leaving Brooklyn's Marcy St. Street station while negotiating the crossover to the outbound express track. In doing so, one third rail shoe that is close to but not touching the 625 volt Direct Current third rail has caused a flash-over point of white light. In the background are the towers of the Williamsburg bridge that the train just recently negotiated. The beautiful dome is the former Williamsburg Savings Bank and is now a private venue. Across the street from that is the famed Peter Lugar restaurant, purportedly the purveyor of the finest steaks in all New York City. Care to join me to find out?
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
